Lucky Cat Creative Accessibility Statement
Updated: September 2022.
General
Lucky Cat Creative (LCC) strives to ensure that its services and its website, LuckyCatCreative.com, are accessible to people with disabilities. LCC has invested significant resources to help ensure that its website is made easy to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, with the strong belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence. The internet should be an open space with no impediments for going places — the places in this case being information spaces and a wide world of experiences and opportunities universally attainable.
Accessibility on LuckyCatCreative.com
Lucky Cat Creative, employs best practices and the latest HTML and web development techniques to present a public website that is as fully accessible as we can achieve. Technology evolves, so this is a moving target. Nevertheless LCC is making the effort to accommodate all visitors.
LuckyCatCreative.com will never employ so-called “overlay” utilities such as accessiBe, UserWay, etc., because their use can be interpreted as breaching Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA for making public websites accessible to all without requiring specialized steps such as enabling accessibility features in order to actually be accessible . . . these practices are the last bastion of the ignorant, the uninformed, the website owners unwilling to do a small amount of re-coding to affect a natively-accessible website. These “overlay” solutions fail to be helpful to those with disabilities, but their makers’ target market is only website owners willing to buy into what is billed as a quick fix. “Overlay” makers exploit a bad situation — the majority of websites failing WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines — by offering a magical glamour meant to smooth over deficiencies inherent in underlying code, in design, in absence of simple content such as Alternative Text attributes (text supporting images that is read by screenreaders and other assistive devices to the vision-impaired and others with disabilities ) — for profit. By doing so, they retard the needed refactoring of websites to make them comply — that is, to make them fully available to all. Websites are not compliant — they just seem to be so by all but those with actual disabilities attempting to use them.
LCC cannot condone this practice and hereby challenges users of such false solutions to simply dig in and make the fixes needed.
